Additional Requirements: A folder with pockets and brads in the middle (for holding all of your speech outlines), 4" x 6" notecards (for your speaking notes) and a VHS videotape (for videotaping your speeches). A second folder to hold all of your class handouts would also be a good idea.

Class Attendance Policy: Since listening and evaluating speeches are vital activities for a speech student, REGULAR CLASS ATTENDANCE IS IMPERATIVE. You start the class with 120 points for attendance and participation. In this MWF course, you will lose 10 points from your attendance/particpation grade for each class you miss. However, the instructor will not give a penalty for an absence for which there is a legitimate reason, if the student notifies the instructor BEFORE the absence. Documentation (proof) of the legitimate reason will be required if the instructor is not notified in advance. Frequent absences, regardless of the reasons for the absences, will result in a student receiving a lowered course grade or, even possibly, a failing grade in the course.

Class Rules:
No pagers and/or phones in class. This includes text messaging.
No sleeping or any other behavior that may be disruptive in class.
No wandering around and/or in and out of the class.
Repeated tardiness will affect your grade.
Respectful and courteous behavior is both expected and required in this class.
In addition, due to the nature of this class, children are not allowed in class.
