2 COURSE DESCRIPTION
CONCEPTS OF BIOLOGY 1 - COURSE DESCRIPTION: This is a 4 credit hour course designed for students with little or no recent background in biology. Successful completion of this course is a prerequisite for further study in biology. The course is a study of basic biology principles from the molecular to the cellular level. Laboratory sessions reinforce lecture topics. Students planning to transfer to a four-year college or university as science majors may need to take Biology 4081 instead.
CONCEPTS OF BIOLOGY 2 - COURSE DESCRIPTION: This is a 4 credit hour course designed for students who have
successfully completed Concepts of Biology 1 (4071) and wish to continue their studies in
biology. Topics include the molecular biology of the gene, evolution, plant form
and function, and ecology. Laboratory sessions include field activities and a
survey of the animal kingdom. Students planning to transfer to a four-year college or university as science
majors may need to take Biology 4082 instead of this course.
CONCEPTS OF BIOLOGY 3 - COURSE DESCRIPTION This is a 4 credit hour course designed for
students with a recent background in the study of biology. Successful completion
of this course will prepare students to enter Anatomy & Physiology classes,
or, along with Concepts of Biology 4071 and 4072, will complete the natural
science requirement for an Associate of Arts degree. This course is an
introduction to the anatomy and physiology of animals, with emphasis on human
organ systems. In the laboratory, students dissect a fetal pig. Students planning to
transfer to a four-year college or university as science majors may need to take
Biology 4083 instead of this course.
